Talk in Melville
Today I was invited by Breast Cancer Care (formerly Breast Cancer Foundation) W.A. to give a talk at the Melville Recreation Center, where they host a regular support group. As today there was more rain than I saw all last year, which kept most women away, but it was nice because I was able to give the women individual attention and answer everyone's questions. There was a wide variety of women there, in all stages of their life and survivor experience, from a woman 7 years out and feeling healthier than she ever has in her life, to a woman who is starting treatment in 3 weeks and pretty scared about the prospect. She was the one I spent the most time with, and it was great to be able to help her and see her relax throughout the hour I was there. Besides answering questions, my main presentation was on my anywhere/no equipment exercise routine. Tomorrow morning I'm heading to the Mount Hopsital to speak at a support group for women with metastatic breast cancer.
