Nutrition Supplements?

I was asking my women patients this morning if they took any nutrition supplements, and their answers kind of shocked me. One woman said her oncologist told her to not take any supplements with Vitamins A, C, or E in them, as it would interfere with her Arimidex. Then another one of the women mentioned that she can't use bath salts because it will have some sort of negative interaction with her Tamoxifen. So, I obviously need to learn more about this, but let me go ahead and put this out there: if you are going to take anything, even if it seems simple enough and is available over the counter, you need to get a real pharmacist who has had experience/training about chemotherapies etc to check out and approve any combination of drugs you may be considering taking. It would be devastating to think that vitamin C, something we generally take for granted as being very good for us, could somehow screw up your cancer treatment.
