Australian Cancer Survivorship Center

The Peter Mac institute in Melbourne is the home of the Australian Cancer Survivorship Center. Currently on their home page their advertising for the "In Touch Survivors Online Support Group." For more info email Kate Wakeline at kate.awkelin@cancervic.org.au or call her at 13 11 20. It's a Cancer Council Victoria support service.

The tabs on the top of their home page include Survivors, which brings up another intro page with sidebars for links to pages including "I've had cancer, now what?",   "physical changes"   "emotional changes"   "finance work and insurance", etc.

Under the home page tab Research, they give an interesting listing of different projects going on and research objectives.

The main focus of their work at Peter Mac is to identify needs, but so far they don't do any interventions like I do. However, their work shapes the decisions I make for what to include in my projects, so it's no less important. Also, one of their head researchers, Michael Jeffords, has done some excellent articles. I heard him speak at a conference, and he gave one of the most interesting and articulate speeches I've ever heard. Overall, this would be a great resource for people to look to for a comprehensive collection of information. The only drawback is it's more general to all cancer survivors rather than answering disease specific questions.
