Mindfulness Mastery Training

Some of my patients went to a workshop, Mindfulness Mastery Training, hosted by the Cancer Council. They brought me back some of the hand outs, but it doesn't make a lot of sense out of context. Here's a list of some of the main points I could gather.
  • They teach people to "develop neutral, non-judgmental awareness of passing thoughts rather than get caught up in them" and to "feel emotions fully while they pass."
  • "increasingly dissolve attachment to needing things to be a certain way in order to experience a sense of well being"
  • learn to be "fully present, here and now"
It goes on in that vein for a while. It's actually very similar to The Power of Now by Ekhart Tolle. I'll post a video of him speaking after the jump if you want to see what it's all about. Let me say that I read The Power of Now for a psychology course in college, and tried to take it seriously, and doing the things he describes really helped me clear my head. For a while. These days, my head is screaming all the time again. I should probably go back and read it again.
