Army of Women

The website Army of Women is an initiative to get women involved in research projects that mostly benefit the study of breast cancer. However, they don't just want women who have had cancer to participate. They need healthy women to act as controls so they can truly confirm their findings. It's an USA wide initiative, and hopefully they'll soon link out internationally.

Participating in research can be a much more rewarding and direct way of making a charitable contribution. Especially if you can act as a control. I can speak from experience that finding willing controls is very hard. I encourage any woman who wants to help out to participate in this project.
