Challenge: Environmentally Friendly Eating

The documentary Food Inc brought issues of how economics, framing practices, diet, and nutritional consequences are all interacting today. Going along with that, my friend found a blog called Price of Meat, which has the tag line "Cut some meat, cut global warming." So this week's challenge comes with some statements from their blog (you'll have to make your own critical decision on their accuracy, though to the blog's credit they've made citations)
  • "the UN estimated that livestock production accounts for 18% of all greenhouse gas emissions, more than transportation"
  • "if every American gave up meat once a week, this would have the same effect on reducing greenhouse gases as saving ninety million plane tickets from new York to Los Angeles."
Pretty interesting thoughts. Now, as I've said in some of my recipe reviews, I feel I need that taste, so for my own part, I admit that while I haven't cut down on frequency of meat, I have at least halved the amount of meat I put into each meal to try to find that balance between good diet and good taste.

So the challenge: Can you reduce the servings of meat you have? We won't even go on days, but meals. So In the comments, post how many meals this week you had meat, and then tell us how many meals you usually have meat at in a week.
