Carolina Well and Sole Sisters

The Lineberger Cancer Center at UNC now has an outreach survivorship program called Carolina Well. Their services are mainly around psychological and/or peer support, nutrition, and general lifestyle counseling. They mention Get REAL & HEEL, but then also have their own nurse-led exercise program called Sole Sisters. From their site:

"Sole Sisters is a free, 14-week program designed to help sedentary women initiate and maintain a regular exercise program. This program was founded by Judith Swasey, RN, MSN, ANP-C, Clinical Instructor and UNC Breast Center nurse practitioner. The program is sponsored by UNC Lineberger to provide education, motivation and support to enable women to begin a moderate to vigorous exercise program. The program also works to modify common obstacles for women beginning an exercise program, promote maintenance of a life-long exercise program and raise awareness for breast cancer prevention, screening and research. Participants must register for the orientation. Registration for orientation is limited to the first 100 women. To register, call (919) 966-5905."

Carolina Well also has community partners at ECU, in Greensboro, in New Hanover, and in Dunn. These places also provide additional services like HIV testing, pre-natal services, x-rays, and lab services.
