The National Cancer Institute allows you to search for all registered clinical trials by many categories, the most convenient being by zip code. I searched for clinical trials within 100 miles of Raleigh, and it returned 517 results, most of course at UNC or Duke, though they were truly all over North Carolina and Virginia. Note that you can fill in multiple fields. For example, I selected "breast cancer" in the first field, but in 27609 for the zip code, and in they keywords and phrases put in exercise. Puting in all these search terms narrowed it down to 2 results (without the zip code, there were 64 results nationwide).
On the results page, the top boxes allow you to select how you want your results displayed. I'd suggest clicking "view content for patients" and "description with locations" to make it easiest to find a trial you might be interested in (then click the red "go" button).
You will be presented with a summary, the eligibility criteria, and contact information for each study. Of the 2 that fit all my search criteria, there's one going on at Duke and one at ECU. Now, obviously this is not all the research going on. A glaring omission being the Get REAL & HEEL program at UNC. There are many reasons why a program would not be listed on the clinical trials registery, so please don't think that because it's missing it's not good. Generally, it's more the studies that have pharmeceutical interventions that are included in clinical trial registeries, and not necessarily things like exercsie or diet programs for different clinical populations.
So in summary, if you're looking for the newest treatment or rehabilitation program, the Clinical trials database is another source where you can try to find it.
