workout April 4

Nothing fancy today. We started with having everyone practice jumping/skipping rope, then everyone did their own workouts, but had to come back to a set of skipping after each exercise. The researchers at Edith Cowan University in Perth are the leading experts on exercise for prostate cancer survivors who have specifically undergone androgen deprivation therapy (hormonal therapy whereby men are chemically castrated). Two major side effects are muscle wasting and loss of bone mineral density. The guys up at ECU have determined that impact activities, like skipping rope, are the best way to maintain or possibly regain BMD in this population. So we did it. Plus it's a great fitness workout. Then at the end as a bit of a relaxer, we had a game of wobbly lawn bowls.
